Terrifier 2

Reel Kill Review: Terrifier 2 (2022)

Runtime: 138 min

Rating: 8/10 🎬

Commentary: Gleefully savage—a blood-soaked thriller that earns every scream.

Welcome to another Reel Kill Review! Today, we're diving into Terrifier 2, Damien Leone’s ultra-violent sequel that dragged Art the Clown back into the spotlight — and drenched him in blood. Unlike many modern slashers, this one doesn't hold back. It doubles down on everything that made the original so notorious — and manages to outdo it.

The Setup: After surviving his resurrection, Art returns to Miles County on Halloween night with a vengeance — and a disturbingly playful new sidekick. From the opening frame, the tone is set: no rules, no remorse, and no filter. While the plot is looser than most, the film sets the stage for raw carnage and creative set pieces that keep you glued to the mayhem.

Art & The Aftermath: Terrifier 2 introduces Sienna, a new final girl whose presence gives the sequel more heart and mythos than expected. But make no mistake — this is still Art’s show. The kills are prolonged, gruesome, and drenched in practical effects. Some scenes are almost operatic in their brutality — not for the faint of heart, but for gore fans, it’s a feast.

Bigger, Bloodier, Bolder: Clocking in at over two hours, Terrifier 2 embraces its indulgence. It doesn't aim for elegance or elevated horror — it leans hard into grindhouse energy. While the pacing drags in a few spots, the film makes up for it with sheer audacity. From supernatural twists to full-blown hallucinations, Leone throws everything at the screen and most of it sticks.

The Final Kill: Terrifier 2 is brutal, excessive, and strangely hypnotic in its chaos. It’s not here to redefine horror — it’s here to rip it apart and laugh while doing it. For fans of gore, slashers, and unhinged practical effects, this is a love letter soaked in arterial spray.

Not perfect — but gloriously depraved, and impossible to look away from.

What Elements Matter?

The Reel Kill Rating is The Reel Kill's signature scoring system. Evaluation for horror content is based on Kills & Creativity, Gore Factor, Scare Factor, Atmosphere & Cinematography, and Plot & Pacing

Each horror piece receives a final score ranging from 1 to 10. Scores below a 5 are considered forgettable fodder , while anything above a 5 begins to earn my respect. These works highlight elements such as carnage, stylish kills, tension, and fear, among others.
